Salt Lake Tribune Review
The future is searingly bright and brutal in this post-apocalyptic thriller starring
Denzel Washington as a lone traveler headed west, compelled to carry a certain book across the wasteland. He's challenged by the scheming Carnegie (
Gary Oldman), a village warlord seeking a particular book whose words, he believes, will give him power. Directed with fierce pacing and a color-leached palette by the Hughes Brothers ("Dead Presidents," "From Hell"), "The Book of Eli" serves up Washington's Eli as a reserved warrior who warms to Carnegie's imprisoned daughter-in-law, Solara (
Mila Kunis). Bursts of action, in which Eli turns a dozen thugs into a circle of bodies, and an interesting punchline make the moody end-of-the-world visuals bearable.
Denzel Pleeease!

Your gonna have to check your atheism at the door to enjoy this one. I like a good dismemberment as much as the next guy...okay maybe more..., but the conclusion of this one demands you be faithful, and christian for that matter. This atheist should have saved his money.
