Salt Lake Tribune Review
Director
Garry Marshall ("Pretty Woman") mines just about every recognizable Hollywood face for this hopelessly romantic nod to relationships in Los Angeles during Valentine's Day. Starring
Ashton Kutcher, Julia Roberts,
Shirley MacLaine,
Queen Latifah,
Jennifer Garner, George Lopez,
Jessica Alba and more (including singer Taylor Swift's big-screen debut), this comedy is not at a loss for big names or sheer number of characters as it moves in and out of their intersecting lives. But with an ensemble cast so large and with so many stories to juggle, inevitably some relationships are worth watching while others become a bore. These frothy, sometimes maudlin snapshots will make you laugh as much as cringe with its old-fashioned sentimentality. The best that can be said here is that it's not a complete mess.

The rundown: A star-studded valentine to relationships in Los Angeles that is loaded with recognizable faces, just not enough laughs and endearing couples. 125 min (V.H.)
